Fall Planting 2008

We planted our garlic in an oats cover crop about 3" deep & 4" apart.

 Our 1st two garlic rows of garlic variety Music are now planted and marked. 

 Here are two wonderful helpers on my home made planting machine.

Winter 2008 & 2009

Our garlic field is nessled all snug under 8-12" of snow.  The snow is actually an insulator for the garlic and prevents the freeze/thaw which can damage the garlic.  As the garlic is hibernating, it is developing it's gourmet flavor.

By January all snow fields look the same, but to us this field is growing wonderful garlic.

And more snow...where's spring?
