Organic grassy pastures provide our Free-Ranging Hens with wonderful nutrition which results in a nutrient dense egg provide you with more Omega 3’s, vitamin A, B12, E, & D, folic acid, beta carotene, while being lower in saturated fat and cholesterol.

First, what are PASTURED EGGS ?

Pastured Eggs come from chickens that are raised on pasture (or grasses) where they eat grass, bugs, and worms as a part of their diet.  All farms are a bit different, but our hens live in a moveable coop, which is moved on a consistent basis to fresh clean grass.  They are outside all day, but our hens use their coop to lay their eggs, protect them from the weather, and sleep at night.  About 30% of their food comes from them ranging in the grasse.  They also need a poultry ration of grain of CERTIFIED ORGANIC (corn, soy, wheat, oats, flaxseed, vitamins, kelp and calcium).  We are one of the few local farms that feed their chickens Certified Organic Poultry feed.   Our hens really are free ranged (some farms, even organic, "free range" just means that the chickens are not living in a cage), and they have the freedom to act like natural chickens dusting in dirt, scratching for food, living in a flock, basking in the sun, and just being chickens!  On our farm, our pastured chickens are naturally healthy and do not need antibiotics or medications.  Certified Organic Feed which means all certified organic grain, NO meat by-products, NO chemicals, NO GMOs, or conventional sprayed grains.  It is the highest quality feed chickens can receive.

Pasteurized eggs are something completely different.  It is a new method used by factory farms to pasteurize eggs at a heat level that kills bacteria.  Eggs produced in factory farms have a higher rate of food poisoning due to bacteria from the unhealthy way chickens are raised and treated.

This is great information on egg production:

Free Range/Pastured Brown Eggs

We offer great tasting large brown chicken eggs.   ALL of our laying hens eat Certified Organic grasses and poultry ration.  Our chickens are moved to fresh pasture or new grass every few days where they can eat fresh grass, bugs, worms, enjoy the sunshine, fresh air, and have a happy, healthy life.  Yes, they are spoiled chickens! Our hens DON'T receive: medication, hormones, antibiotics, meat by-products, chemicals, GMOs, or conventional sprayed grains. Our eggs are NOT "certified" organic.

Not only are you getting farm fresh delicious eggs, but eggs are a nutrient-dense food, providing a complex array of both macro- and micro-nutrients. New research has shown the differences between eggs from hens raised naturally on pastures rather than in factory farmed cage operations or supermarket eggs.  You can also taste the difference!

  • ·1/4 less saturated fat
  • ·1/3 less cholesterol
  • ·2/3 more vitamin A
  • ·2 times more omega-3 fatty acids
  • ·3 times more vitamin E
  • ·7 times more beta carotene
  • ·5 time higher in vitamin D
  • ·Higher in folic acid and B12

What makes our eggs so good?

  • Our chickens FREE RANGE OUTSIDE!
  • As they free range, they eat a salad bar range of FRESH GRASSES on our certified organic farm.
  • They live in a SMALL FLOCK of chickens.
  • They live in a CLEAN ENVIRONMENT by moving their house to new grass weekly.
  • They lay their eggs in their house in NESTS.
  • They live OUTSIDE.  Their house is there for laying eggs in their nests, for roosting, sleeping, and protection from weather and predators.
  • They get DAILY TREATS from our organic garden.  They love cucumbers, pumpkins, huckleberries, tomatoes, squash, corn, swiss chard, broccoli and whatever else is in season.  Otherwise, we bring them organic greens from a local organic store to ensure they are getting the vegetables they love to eat.
  • They have PLAYGROUNDS to keep them busy and stress free which could be a dirt pile to dust in, a pile of woodchips, a raised garden bed, and our son engineers a river with dams to give them a place to drink.  They love drinking running water!
  • NO MEDICATION!  We keep them healthy through good nutrition, vitamins, preventative measures, and a stress free, and clean environment.  As they free range, they find the nutrition they are craving that keeps them healthy too.
  • HUMAINLY TREATED – can’t you tell they are spoiled chickens?
  • Our eggs are COLLECTED though out the day.  They are CLEANED following food safety standards.
  • Our eggs not cleaned by being submurged in water and chemicals. We don't use chemicals to clean our eggs.
  • We write the day the eggs are LAID on our carton, so you know how fresh they really are.  With the high demand for our eggs, we have never delivered eggs to a store or customer over 7 days old.
  • They are free to be chickens!  They are spoiled and are treated and act like pets.  We are lucky enough to be able to get wonderful eggs in this rare environment.
